A visual series documenting the ongoing transformation of the Barú River House into a fully functional nonprofit ceramic studio.
This passion driven project began with the restoration of the house to its original skyblue color, accented with touches of yellow to bring in warmth and light. The balcony was extended to open up sweeping views of the Barú River. Where all the surrounding mountains discharge their waters, creating both an epic landscape and the challenge of seasonal flooding.
Located on a one-hectare property with its own microclimate and a view of the tides, the space now includes: A working ceramic studio, A computer lab, A chemical glaze lab. Plans underway for a clay processing zone and an outdoor wood firing kiln.
The biggest challenge? Staying dry during the rainy season while staying true to the creative spirit.
Project Motto: First, it must be practical. Then, it becomes an art house. Style comes last.
